On one of my many forays into the Grand Canyon, I saw this scene through my viewfinder and wanted to ensure I captured it like it appeared to me. These Alien-like pods were photographed in a desert landscape, while on a hike into the Grand Canyon.

This incredible “well” was formed naturally due to the collapse of a limestone cavern. Over one million gallons of water flows continuously into this well. This particular photograph is from the man-made irrigation canals formed by the ancient Sinigua that was the lifeblood of their civilization.
